Visit from Lexie, Brit and Piper

My parents left on Monday morning for Cornwall and Bath and Lexie, Brit and Piper arrived at 3:30pm on Tuesday so we had just enough time to wash and change the sheets and towels in preparation. (Sorry mom and dad, we saved your sheets and are putting them back on the bed when you return back on Fri.). :) Brit found out just a month ago that he needed to come to London for a deposition for work. I'm so glad it worked out for them to take the train down here and hang out with us for a day and night, it was great to see them! It had been a year since we last saw them in CO for Piper's baptism and Piper was just a few months old! We hung out, walked around town and had stayed up late drinking wine and catching up.

Look at this cutie!

All the kids are fascinated with this song toy book:

Hailey kind of freaked out about sharing her doll initially but came around:

They're bonding. :)

We took them to our favorite coffee spot Caffe Nero (they were saying how the coffee they'd had so far in England was weak and left something to be desired):

And to Poundland (no trip is complete without a trip to Poundland!). Lexie shared my excitement. :) And then walked them to the train.

The kids scored some squirt guns at Poundland today so naturally we had to try them out after naps. I'm being ambushed as I take the pic:

Hailey is a little confused about what to do with the squirt gun:

But at least she's learned to hide from Ethan and try and dodge the water:

This sassy girl has been knowingly (and annoyingly!) throwing her food on the ground and tonight she smeared her cottage pie all through her hair so she had to have a bath. Of course she is being difficult while Chris is gone (super busy deadline time and he's been getting home around 9 most nights this week). Cut mommy some slack, eh?

We got "Back to the Future" at the library the other day and watched it and then I guess he watched it again with his grandparents. Chris had suggested it and it is PG but that may have been a mistake because there was way more swearing than I remembered (granted it had been a LONG time since I had last seen it)! Anyways, I overheard Ethan say to his sister one morning this week, "What are YOU looking at, butthead?" So I said, "Excuse me, what did you say? Where did you hear that?" Sure enough, it was the movie. Whoops!
