Classmate Birthday Party, Swanage, etc

Tuesday after school we perused the Poole Museum and their "Time Off" exhibit. Thought this was interesting:

Ha, who knew that Ryvita crackers (Ry sold me on this fiber-out cracker when we were roommates) were made in Poole?

Wednesday is our free day and while it was sunny and we really should have ventured somewhere (and I felt guilty about it), we did some shopping and stocked up on some new books at the library. Check out my new coat from Dorothy Perkins. On sale for £20 instead of £60! Oddly enough, I purchased a coat at this same store when I was in England over 10yrs. ago.

Here is Ethan with his new best bud, his classmate Aiden. I accidentally called him Cayden but after awhile, his mother corrected me, thank goodness (it sounded like a Ethan was saying Cayden or Hayden when he talks about him all the time at home). He is a really sweet kid and it was so cute to watch them together. Yes, it kind of looks like they were headed for the pub here (but they were going to a little girl's birthday party at a nearby church hall). Perhaps a glimpse into the future. :)

We didn't really know what to expect at the English birthday party and didn't really know this little girl (school just started). We brought a present (a paint your own minion piggy bank--minions seemed like a gender neutral safe bet) and brought it. Everyone seemed to bring presents. We walked in and it was a deejayed party! My first thought was "What? Really?" But, the kids seemed to have a really good time and it was so cute to watch 20-something little people out there dancing!  I sat and talked with Aiden's mom, Danielle. She's really nice!

Hailey was obsessed with the balloons and Ethan was looking out for her and would come hug and dance with her, it was cute!

Playing a game:

The kids ended up getting a pack of candy each in the game, tons of candy "snacks", kinder chocolate eggs with toy inside and a cupcake! Holy sugar high!

The kids in their "hangout" under the table:

Hailey has been a case this week. Very defiant, testing all of the boundaries (and purposely disobeying, hitting, etc).

She is such a character, both her and her brother march to the beat of a different drummer. It cracks me up! In her little ballet class the kids are supposed to sit/stand on a mat with their parent for a lot of the class and Hailey is in the middle of the room dancing around or going to her own mat so I keep having to go get her. If anything, over time maybe this will help with following directions. She is having a great time in the class though, which is what is important!

She was holding hands with the other girl that runs off everywhere:

We met up with Margie at a tasty French bakery in Lilliput afterwards:

Hailey looks like a gypsy girl that found a treasure on the beach:

Friday Hailey and I took a day trip to Swanage. Took two buses which took a little over an hour and 15min. What a gorgeous (although a bit windy) sunny fall day! Loved the cute shops and gorgeous coastline!

They call pacifiers soothers or dummies here. These are candies:

On the way back, however, I had to run 3 miles in a sweater and jeans. Must have accidentally got on the 50 instead of the 52 and only had 40min to get from Sandbanks to Ethan's school for pickup and no other bus would get me there in time. But I made it! (Just needed another shower and need to look more carefully at bus #s next time!). Nothing like a forced impromptu workout.

The kids and I had ice cream outside the garage so we could sit in the sun:
