Brownsea Island

Ethan concentrating very hard on his art project:

Wednesday Hailey and I ventured to Brownsea Island once again to see the fall colors and see if we could spot some Red Squirrels this time around (we didn't see any when we went in the spring!):

Hailey had a blast chasing around the peahens:

It looks like she is playing "Duck, Duck, Peahen" here:

One of the (8 I think) elusive Red Squirrels we spotted this visit. They are collecting food for the winter right now so it is easier to see them.

They have this awesome "natural playground" where they made some cool art, play structures, and games out of logs. So impressed! Maybe Chris will be inspired (ha, any excuse to use that chainsaw of his) and we can get some ideas to use on our logs at home:

This could be handy for the campfire:

Hopscotch:

Teeter-totter:

What a cool castle!

It only took 20min. to get there by boat and the ferries leave to go back to Poole at 20after and 50after the hour, every hour. So I assumed the journey back would also be 20min. and we would be back in plenty of time for Ethan's 3pm pickup if we left at 2:20pm, right? Wrong. Apparently they take the scenic route on the way back and it took 45min.! Luckily, I was able to text Danielle to grab Ethan for me and we were meeting them at the park anyways so we met them at the park instead. Phew! I think my "no tardy mark" record is still intact (hopefully). Ethan had a great time playing with Aidan and then we went to his teacher conference at 4pm.

The teacher had nothing but good things to say, which was good! She said he was a good friend (and that some kids were really good to miss him when he left), he has adjusted well and is a good role model. Haha, apparently he told some other kid that he "wasn't making wise choices." Too funny. And she said that the boys and girls were each constructing paper chains separately and then Ethan and this girl Saffie, worked together (on their own accord) to figure out how to join the two chains into one. So proud. :)
