Old Harry Rocks

Today we went on a "hike" (English use this term loosely, it was a pretty flat walk on a trail 3/4mi. each way) to Old Harry Rocks, these towering rock stacks with grass on top, over by Studland Beach on the Isle of Purbeck. We took a short little chain ferry over from Sandbanks. Hailey was up at 6am AGAIN and both kids were kind of whiney today. They collected some smooth rocks on the trail (about a dozen favorites). I think we are going to have to whittle down this extensive rock collection before we ship our things home at the end. :) Somewhat related side note: I feel like half of English kids Ethan's age are named Harry or Charlie.

In the car, Ethan said, "oh look, a teeny tiny Cooper!", when we saw a Mini Cooper. Too funny.

What a gorgeous sunny day to be outside hiking around by the water! (We weren't the only ones with this idea, there were quite a few people on the trail and we came back to a packed parking lot. We drove the loop around on the way back and drove through Swanage. There was not a single parking spot! We will have to take a boat over next time to go to this cute little port town with shops. We drove past Corfe Castle as well (the kids and I had already been there but Chris hadn't. He was happy with just driving by it as we are a bit burnt out on castles now and were unmotivated. Even though it was free with our National Trust passes...)
