Puking Poncho

Well, the Great Scotland Roadtrip of 2015 got off to a bit of a rocky start. We had a 5.5hr. drive to Hawkshead, England for the first leg of the trip. The first 1.5-2hrs were strangely quiet (because both kids were napping). Then the unrest began. I was trying to keep them content and each of them had 3boxes of raisins and some other snacks. But then Hailey puked. But it was just a piece of pear-whew. We were trying everything to keep Hailey happy--books, toys, changing the music (putting on Michael Jackson seemed to help). We took a break for dinner at an Indian restaurant. But then when we got back on the road and pulled over for Ethan's emergency bathroom stop by the side of the road, poor Hailey puked up pretty much everything possible. So here we were, pulled over in the windy 60 or less rainy weather (I was in a dress because it was 70 and sunny in Poole earlier today), cleaning up this puke with wet wipes and paper towels and getting Hailey undressed and in her PJs. Only to have her puke again all over her PJs a little bit later. We have determined that the girl gets carsick because she was completely fine afterwards and at dinner--happy, eating normal etc. And this is also similar to the recent blueberry puking incident on our camping trip. We decided that we need to turn her car seat around (hopefully facing forward will help). We looked it up and she is heavier than the 9kg weight requirement in England for turning around the car seat so we won't be breaking any rules or anything. (Of course it is safer turned around backwards but whatever helps with the car sickness at this point!). We did find humor in one thing we came across when I googled car sickness for a 20month old:

THE PUKING PONCHO!
I'm sorry but how can you not laugh at that picture and name?! :)
