We headed about an hour to the seaside town of Lyme Regis. A really cute town with brightly colored buildings (each one a different color than the next) situated in quite a hilly area. The beach (part of the Jurrassic Coast which is a World Heritage Site) was made up of lots of rocks and was supposed to be a great place for finding fossils. It was sunny but brisk and we set out for the fossil dig. We ended up finding several fossils-see below!
Later Chris and Ethan went to the Fossil Museum (Chris said it was really interactive and great for kids) while Hailey and I checked out the artsy shops for 45min.
Ethan was really craving ice cream (ha, when is he not?) so we got some before heading home. Hailey was a hot mess on the car ride home (probably because she just got a 40min. Nap today).
We tried out Lakeside Fish & Chips takeout for dinner. It was voted best fish & chips in Dorset County in 2011 and 2012. Three others walked at the same time I did so I knew it must be good and it didn't disappoint. This might be the best yet. We had it with the Lyme Regis Brewery beers I picked up (Golden Ale for me and Strong IPA for Chris).
Check out those teeth!
That has got to be the biggest anchor ever!
