School Meeting and Summer Weather (Finally!)

First off, check out this hat at the Royal Ascot races!

And look who is eating corn on the cob by herself (she loves it)! We couldn't figure out if she was a beaver or typewriter corn eater-it seemed like a combo.

So, Wednesday was the school meeting for Ethan's September "Reception" start. He will be in the Pufferfish class with Mrs. Butcher (hopefully her name is not an indicator of her demeanor.) :) I bought Ethan's logo sweatshirt for his uniform and the book bag he'll have to use. They really stressed how kids cannot miss a single day of school and all vacations  must be taken during designated school holiday time period, per the LAW. Geez, too bad we already have two trips booked where he will miss at least a day of school for each. And then they really stressed being on time every day. The wording here makes me feel like we are already in trouble and school hasn't even started yet!

Oh my, we will have to change our ways. We are often a tad late for preschool dropoff. At least it will only be about half the distance walk, we won't have to wait at the train crossing and we won't need to pack a lunch (school lunches are free here-how cool is that! Yes, please!). We just have to work on using his knife to cut up meat by himself etc. Another mom was telling me that they call it the "walk of shame" if you have to walk down the hall to deliver your kid to school late (they close the outside classroom door RIGHT at 8:55 and then you have to sign in the tardy book and put a reason for being late and then walk your kid to class). My
Goodness.

The lady Katie, who I was talking to the other day, is going to have her son in Ethan's class so that was cool.

Check out this cider in a 2L bottle:

And, the summer weather has finally hit!!

Happy dance!

Ethan has been working hard on coloring a banner for Grandma and Grandpa Shult, who arrive today! Pics to come.
